Whats all this talk of SWR anywaySWR= Standing Wave Ratio
What is it?
A form of measurement ,to determine the match or mismatch of your antenna system. For every decibel of power not emitted out of the antenna.
Goes up in heat or back into the radio.
How is that determined?
A SWR meter. Along with other meters to check continuity.
Why is it important?
In effect to give maximum power transfer from the radio out the antenna.
How is this matching done?
We have to adjust the antenna and transmission line to 50 ohms.
Your radio wants to see 50 ohms. Along with a good ground plane. a good SWR match should take place. 1.1 would be best. Not always possible but that is the goal.
